President: Michael A.
Hertzberg
Michael A. Hertzberg is the President and founder of TLS. Mr. Hertzberg
has practiced International Trade law in Washington, DC since 1970. Mr.
Hertzberg has represented American, Japanese, European, Canadian, Korean,
Chinese, Australian, Mexican, and Latin American clients with regard to
international trade and import and export issues. Involved industries
include biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, electronics, computers
and software, steel, automotive, agricultural products, heavy industry
and general merchandise. Mr. Hertzberg taught International Economic Law
at the National Law Center of George Washington University and was on
the Advisory Board of the American University International Master of
Laws Program. Mr. Hertzberg is also a Partner of Howrey Simon Arnold &
White, a major American law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Hertzberg is a co-founder of Nautilus Group Japan, Ltd., the Japanese
importer and distributor of Nautilus fitness equipment and the Master
Franchiser for Nautilus in Japan. He is also a co-founder of Replicon,
Inc. a developer of DNA rolling circle amplification technology. Mr. Hertzberg
serves on the Advisory Board of the Dinner Club, a Washington, D.C. angel
investment group on the Organizing Committee of First Tuesday
Washington, an international technology networking organization, and on
the Board of Directors of Bio FX Corporation, a manufacturer of immuno
detection chemistries that include colorimetric and chemiluminescent formulations.
Vice President & Japan Representitive: Dr. Hiroshi Nakayoshi
Hiroshi Nakayoshi is the TLS Representative in Japan. Dr. Nakayoshi is
a thirty year veteran of the Japanese Pharmaceutical Industry serving
as a Director of Nomura's Life Sciences Group and as the Japanese Representative
of a major U.S Global Contract Research Organization. Dr. Nakayoshi is
fluent in Japanese and English having completed Post Doctoral work in
Microbiology at UCLA. Dr. Nakayoshi has a B.S. in Applied Microbiology,
from the Tokyo University of Education and a Ph.D. in Medical Science
from the University of Tokyo.

Dr. Jeffrey Auerbach
Dr. Auerbach is a biotechnology patent attorney with the Liniak, Beranato,
Longacre and White Law firm in Montgomery County, Maryland, which is in
the center of Maryland's biotech industry. Dr. Auerbach's practice focuses
on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications relating to
molecular biology, genetics, therapeutics, diagnostics and bioinformatics
and on the enforcement and exploitation of patent rights. Dr. Auerbach
is a co-founder of Replicon Inc. and an inventor of isothermal rolling
circle DNA amplification technologies in diagnostics, genomics and
therapeutics. Dr. Auerbach is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Auerbach has also served as a research scientist at the Laboratory
of Molecular Biology of the National Cancer Institute, at W. R. Grace
& Company and at Smith Kline & French Laboratories.
Dr. Richard Rubin
Dr. Richard Rubin is a leading Washington D.C. area cardiologist who also
acts as an entrepreneur and consultant to biotech and medical products
companies. Dr. Rubin is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at
the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He obtained his medical
degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Rubin is a member of the Board of Cylex Inc. and serves on the Medical
or Physician Advisory Boards of Emergency Filtration Products, Inc., Biotech
21, and Health Cost Consultants, Inc.
Michael Songer, Esq.
Michael Songer is a patent attorney who specializes in information technology,
internet and electronic Intellectual Property. Mr. Songer is a partner
with Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC. He also teaches Internet Law at
the Georgetown University Law School. Mr. Songer is a graduate of Notre
Dame University and the Duke University Law School.
